HCODX Accessibility Statement
Effective Date: April 21, 2026
Last Updated: April 21, 2026
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER
- BEST EFFORT: HCODX is committed to accessibility but cannot guarantee full compliance with all accessibility standards or compatibility with all assistive technologies.
- NO WARRANTY: The service is provided "AS IS." We make no warranties regarding accessibility compliance or fitness for use by any specific individual.
- NO LIABILITY: We are not liable for any damages or losses arising from accessibility barriers, incompatibility with assistive technologies, or any inability to use any part of this service.
- THIRD-PARTY LIMITATIONS: Third-party libraries, embedded tools, and advertisements integrated into this site may have their own accessibility limitations that we cannot control.
- USER RESPONSIBILITY: You are responsible for determining whether HCODX meets your accessibility needs before relying on it.
Our Commitment
HCODX is committed to making its free developer tools and HTML/CSS/JavaScript editor as accessible as possible to all users, including those who use assistive technologies. We continuously work to improve accessibility and welcome feedback from all users.
Good Faith Commitment: While we strive to conform to recognised accessibility standards, we acknowledge known limitations — particularly in complex editor interfaces and third-party libraries. We treat accessibility improvement as ongoing work, not a finished state.
Standards We Target
We aim to conform to the following accessibility standards on a best-effort basis:
- WCAG 2.1 Level AA: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines
- Section 508: U.S. federal electronic accessibility requirements
- EN 301 549: European standard for ICT accessibility
Current Compliance Status
- WCAG 2.1 Level A: Substantially compliant
- WCAG 2.1 Level AA: Partially compliant (ongoing improvements)
- Section 508: Substantially compliant for static content; partially compliant for interactive editor features
Accessibility Features
HCODX currently includes the following accessibility features:
- Keyboard Navigation: Core features and tool inputs are keyboard accessible
- Screen Reader Support: ARIA labels and landmarks on main interface elements
- High Contrast Mode: Dark/light theme options to assist low-vision users
- Scalable Text: Interface respects browser zoom settings up to 200%
- Alternative Text: Descriptive labels on icons and non-decorative images
- Focus Indicators: Visible focus outlines for keyboard navigation
- Skip Links: Skip-to-content link available on main pages
- Semantic HTML: Proper heading hierarchy and landmark regions
Known Limitations
We are transparent about areas where accessibility is currently imperfect:
- Code Editor Complexity: Some advanced editor interactions (e.g., multi-cursor, drag-and-drop) may require mouse use. Keyboard alternatives are provided for most common actions.
- Third-Party Libraries: Open-source libraries used in the editor (syntax highlighting, code parsing) may have accessibility gaps we cannot fully control.
- Live Preview Frame: Accessibility of the live preview depends on the HTML code the user writes; we cannot control its output.
- Dynamic Content: Some tool outputs update dynamically; not all updates are announced to screen readers.
- Color Usage: Some interface elements use color as a primary indicator; text alternatives are provided where possible but may not cover all cases.
- Third-Party Advertisements: When advertisements are active, their accessibility is governed by the advertising networks and is outside our control.
