Currency converter — frequently asked questions
Rates are mid-market — the rate banks use between themselves — updated daily from central banks and major crypto exchanges. Banks and exchange offices add a 1–5% spread on top, so your actual transaction rate will differ from the rate you see here. Use the mid-market figure to know how much your bank is taking as margin.
Rates refresh every 24 hours. For most currency pairs daily resolution is fine — typical day-to-day movement is well under 1%. For high-frequency crypto trading you would want a live exchange feed; for everything else, daily mid-market is the industry standard.
From central-bank publications (European Central Bank, Bank of England, Reserve Bank of Australia, Reserve Bank of India and others) plus major cryptocurrency exchanges. The data is aggregated and refreshed every day.

Banks add a margin (typically 1–3%) on top of the mid-market rate, plus they may charge a flat fee per transaction. The rate this tool shows is the unmarked mid-market rate — what you would pay if there were no intermediary. Wise, Revolut and Currencyfair charge close to mid-market; banks and airport kiosks charge 2–5% above.
No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser. No accounts, no tracking, no log of which conversions you ran. Your amounts and currencies stay in the page.
About exchange rates
Mid-market rate vs your bank's rate
The rate this tool shows is the mid-market rate — the midpoint between the buy and sell quotes on the global interbank market. It's the rate banks use to settle trades with one another, and the rate Google, Reuters and Bloomberg quote. Retail providers always add a margin on top: 0.4–1% for fintech providers like Wise or Revolut, 1.5–3% for traditional banks, and 4–8% for airport kiosks and credit-card foreign-transaction fees. Comparing your provider's quote against the mid-market rate is the easiest way to see the spread you're being charged.
Why daily-resolution data is enough
Major fiat currencies move less than 1% per day on average — often less than 0.3%. Central banks publish their reference rates once per business day, and most aggregator APIs (including the one this tool uses) regenerate nightly to match. For travel, e-commerce, freelance invoicing and most planning use cases, daily resolution gives you a perfectly accurate picture. Intraday spot rates only matter for active forex traders, who use dedicated broker feeds anyway.
Crypto in the same tool
The underlying API includes BTC, ETH, LTC, XRP, BNB, DOGE, ADA, SOL, DOT, MATIC, TRX, AVAX and many other tokens alongside fiat. That means you can convert USD to BTC, ETH to EUR or BTC to INR in the same UI as USD to EUR — no separate site needed. Crypto rates do move faster than fiat, so for time-critical trades use a dedicated exchange price feed.
Where the data comes from
Rates aggregate from public central-bank publications (European Central Bank, Bank of England, Reserve Bank of Australia, Reserve Bank of India) and major cryptocurrency exchanges. The dataset refreshes every day and the result panel always shows you the date the rate is from.
